FuN
Future = NOW! A Youth Manifesto (FuN) is een internationale samenwerking en uitwisseling van het Theaterschip met jongeren, nieuwe makers en organisaties uit Slovenië en Tsjechië. FuN is gestart in 2022 en eindigde in november 2023.
Het project Toekomst = NU! dringt er bij ons allemaal op aan om echt verbinding te maken, niet alleen op lokaal en nationaal niveau, maar ook transnationaal en sector overschrijdend. Het project richt zich op de thema’s gender, klimaatcrisis en zelfzorg.
Gedurende het hele project zullen de deelnemende jongeren manifesten ontwikkelen die gebaseerd zullen zijn op grondig onderzoek, lokale manifestpresentaties, lokale conferenties en festivals. Daarnaast levert FuN een korte internationale coproductie en een hoorspel op en wordt er een korte film gemaakt over FuN waarmee we onze kennis kunnen delen na het project.
FuN is een artivistische manier om de meest levendige maatschappelijke vraagstukken van nu en in de toekomst aan te pakken. Met jongeren, door jongeren, voor jongeren.

Het manifest ‘Please relax’ van het Theaterschip vertrekt vanuit het thema klimaatverandering.
‘It does something with you’, is what the American astronaut Edgar Mitchell said upon returning from his mission to space. He went to explore space but found earth. Our pale blue planet, which looked so tiny, between the vastness of space. This made him aware of the interwovenness of life. And he is not the only one.
So now we’re setting out on a mission to become our own do it yourself astronauts.’

Op zondagmiddag 12 maart 2023 vond er een interactief theatraal debat plaats tussen generaties rondom het thema klimaatverandering. Een debat met jongeren, door jongeren en voor jongeren maar waar elke generatie aan mee kan doen!
Klimaatverandering is iets wat ons allemaal aangaat en toch lijken we soms recht tegenover elkaar te staan. De strijd in het oplossen van de klimaatcrisis lijkt soms net een spel. Maar wel een spel dat we uiteindelijk samen gaan winnen of verliezen. Dit hebben wij als basis genomen voor de vormgeving en inhoud van het debat. In Climate Exchange: The Game beginnen we ook als teams die tegen elkaar gaan strijden. Door middel van gesprekken en interactie met het publiek gaan we vaststellen waar die verschillen nou daadwerkelijk liggen en hoe we dichterbij elkaar kunnen komen.
Co-productie
Op zaterdag 11 november 2023 werd Future = NOW! A Youth Manifesto afgesloten in Slovenië met de première van ‘Screaming Spring’ en ‘The Garden’.
Hoe praten we in het theater over zoiets groots en ongrijpbaars als de klimaatcrisis? Hoe kunnen jongeren zich uiten over iets waar ze weinig of geen controle over hebben? Hoe kunnen we de samenleving beïnvloeden, ongeacht de omgeving waartoe we behoren? Hoe kunnen we samen vechten? Een groep van zes jonge kunstenaars met verschillende achtergronden, die nog nooit eerder hebben samengewerkt, werden verenigd door deze vragen.
Geïnspireerd door de aanvallen op kunstwerken om de klimaatcrisis te bestrijden, gebruikt de voorstelling Screaming Spring Botticelli’s Primavera om een multidimensionaal discours te ontwikkelen over de bedreiging van zowel natuur als cultuur. Door het belang van de lente en de waarde ervan voor ons als individuele wezens uit te drukken, stelt het de waarde in vraag die we als samenleving hechten aan het welzijn van de natuur. Screaming Spring benadrukt hoe onze cultuur juist die dingen die haar dierbaar zijn in gevaar brengt door het welzijn van het milieu te negeren.

The Garden. Een plek zonder twijfel. Een plek van leven. Een plek van orde. Een plek van bloei. Een plek om te overleven. Is het een plek voor ons? The Garden gaat over wat natuur is, wat natuurlijk is, wat een vrouw is en hoe vrijheid en veiligheid regels en voorwaarden nodig hebben.
Tijdens The Garden kan er een conflict ontstaan tussen het verhaal en de luisteraar, die moet beslissen of en op welk moment deze utopische veilige ruimte voor jonge vrouwen verandert in iets potentieel gevaarlijks en onderdrukkends. Is dit wel een groep waar je deel van uit wil maken?

Future = NOW! A Youth Manifesto (FuN) is an international collaboration and exchange between Theaterschip and youngsters, new makers and organizations from Slovenia and Czech Republic. FuN started in 2022 and ended in November 2023.
The project Future = NOW! urges all of us to really connect, not only on a local and national level, but also transnationally and cross-sectorally. Project is focusing on gender, environmental crisis and inclusion. Throughout the project we will build youth manifestos that will be based on thorough research, local manifestos presentations, local conferences and festivals, as well as international co-productions, development of online methodologies and digital guidebooks and film to share our knowledge after the end of the project.
In short: this is a FuN way to tackle today’s most vibrant social issues of the future. With the young, by the young, for the young.

On Sunday 12 March 2023, an interactive debate was held between generations around the theme of climate change. A debate with youngsters, by youngsters, for youngsters, but every generation was able to participate!
Climate change is something that concerns us all and yet, we sometimes seem to be at odds with each other. The struggle to solve the climate crisis sometimes feels like a game. But it is a game which we will all win or lose together. This premise was taken as the basis for the design and content of the debate. In Climate Exchange: The Game we start as teams that will battle each other. Through conversations and interaction with the audience, we will determine what differences actually exist and how we can get closer to each other.

How do we talk about something as big and intangible as the climate crisis in the theatre? How can young people express themselves about something they have very little or no control over? How can we influence society regardless of the environment we belong to? How can we fight together?
A group of six young artists from different backgrounds, who have never worked together before, were united by these questions.
Inspired by the attacks on artworks to combat the climate crisis, the performance Screaming Spring uses Botticelli’s Primavera to develop a multi-dimensional discourse on the threat to both nature and culture. By expressing the importance of spring and its value to us as individual beings, it questions the value we as a society place on the well-being of nature. In addition, the performance highlights how our culture endangers the very things it holds dear by disregarding the well-being of the environment.

The Garden. A place without a doubt. A place of life. A place of order. A place of bloom. A place to survive. Is it a place for us? The Garden is about what nature is, what is natural, what a woman is and how freedom and safety need rules and conditions.
During The Garden, a conflict can arise between the story and the listener, who must decide if and at what point this utopian safe space for young women turns into something potentially dangerous and oppressive. Is this a group you want to be a part of?
